Yoga and Psyche Conference at CIIS

What happens when Yoga, as considered from its vast and original context including scripture, study, meditation, breath work, and physical postures, is integrated with Western psychological theory and clinical practice, including the breakthroughs in somatic psychology, trauma research, and neuroscience? To answer this question, the California Institute of Integral Studies presented a conference entitled Yoga and Psyche Conference: The Future of Psychology in San Francisco.

The conference was the idea of Mariana Caplan, a long time teacher at the institute and it was held at the iconic Whitcomb Hotel in downtown San Francisco, a marvel of early 19th century and Edwardian architecture. Throughout three days, teachers and scholars presented teachings, research, insights, and practices from these two vast and complimentary traditions.
