The show airing this Tuesday is: Chronic Pain management Through Yoga – Neil Pearson
Pain management is one of the most challenging health issues medicine deals with, and when it becomes chronic, it affects the perception, personality and life of those who suffer it. Medication works up to a certain point, but because pain is subjective, what means that each person feels it differently, the patient’s view of pain and relationship to it becomes very important. Yoga is known to be an effective method to get in touch with oneself and manage one’s own mind and body, so, can Yoga help pain management…? I had an opportunity to interview Neil Pearson while he was teaching at the Symposium of Yoga Therapy and Research in Austin Texas.
Neil Pearson is founder and director of Neil Pearson Physiotherapist Corporation, which operates as life is now. He works clinically in Penticton, BC, Canada providing the knowledge and tools for effective pain self management throughout physiotherapy and therapeutic yoga.
Most people know Yoga, yet what’s most popular is the Asanas, the aspect of Yoga that deals with the Body. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ and it means ‘union’, basically the union between Body-Mind-Spirit and utlimately everything that exists.
YogiViews is a TV show where Antonio Sausys interviews Yoga itself, through interviewing those who practice it, teach it, sell it or simply love it.
The interviewed range anywhere from great Masters deeply rooted in lineage and tradition to self made teachers; from savvy business men (and women!) who’d made a fortune selling yoga as a product, to those street-smart that know to rub the hands when cold in winter; from those who renamed yoga to make it acceptable, to those loyal to no other name than Yoga…
The format is either a half or a full hour show that at times presents a clip, or a real person, sometimes all in studio, others all outside, sometimes guiding practical experiences, others immersing in words…, but always true to Yoga.
The audience is everyone, those who practice can learn more and demystify old beliefs and those who don’t can learn why it works; those who love it can learn more about why they love it and those who don’t can learn to love it…, bottom line: Yoga represents the ‘Whole’, therefore ‘everyone’ is touched by it, including You!
Yoga has been around for 6000 years, despite trends, prohibitions and even modern standardization! Why is it…, how does it work…, who are those who pass it on…? Stay tuned and watch YogiViews to find out! The show airs at Comcast Channel 26 or AT&T Channel 99 (San Francisco Bay Area, California) on Tuesdays at 8:30 pm PST (repeat on Wednesdays at 11:30 am PST)
