The show airing next: Yoga as a Way Through Loss – Laurie Fo, Yoga Garden’s Owner
Yoga, the science of integration of all existing things, says that if you want to know life, you must ‘know yourself’, for that information is already integrated in who you are. Yet, when we do go within not always we find a vast pool of integrated beauty, more often we first encounter aspects of our personal identity, one that has been formed amongst other things, by our attachments. If we are attached to gymnastics and our country’s competitor wins, ‘we’ won, even though we weren’t even there! When we lose the things and people we are attached to, we lose part of ourselves and we are pushed into grief. Yet we continue living, then, who survives, who is the new one that emerges after a loss? What can he or she do now…? I’ve invited someone whose exploration took her to Yoga, in surprising ways: Laurie Fo
Laurie Fo came to yoga as a way to return home to herself after deep loss. That journey brought her to owning the Yoga Garden Studio, after a solid experience managing diverse businesses. She also teaches restorative Yoga at the studio. She draws on her background in radiology, integrating anatomical detail, breath awareness and meditation to skillfully use the transformative powers of yoga.
Most people know Yoga, yet what’s most popular is the Asanas, the aspect of Yoga that deals with the Body. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ and it means ‘union’, basically the union between Body-Mind-Spirit and utlimately everything that exists.
YogiViews is a TV show where Antonio Sausys interviews Yoga itself, through interviewing those who practice it, teach it, sell it or simply love it.
The interviewed range anywhere from great Masters deeply rooted in lineage and tradition to self made teachers; from savvy business men (and women!) who’d made a fortune selling yoga as a product, to those street-smart that know to rub the hands when cold in winter; from those who renamed yoga to make it acceptable, to those loyal to no other name than Yoga…
The format is either a half or a full hour show that at times presents a clip, or a real person, sometimes all in studio, others all outside, sometimes guiding practical experiences, others immersing in words…, but always true to Yoga.
The audience is everyone, those who practice can learn more and demystify old beliefs and those who don’t can learn why it works; those who love it can learn more about why they love it and those who don’t can learn to love it…, bottom line: Yoga represents the ‘Whole’, therefore ‘everyone’ is touched by it, including You!
Yoga has been around for 6000 years, despite trends, prohibitions and even modern standardization! Why is it…, how does it work…, who are those who pass it on…? Stay tuned and watch YogiViews to find out! The show airs at Comcast Channel 26 or AT&T Channel 99 (San Francisco Bay Area, California) on Tuesdays at 8:30 pm PST (repeat on Wednesdays at 11:30 am PST)
